Overview
The Submittals module lets you efficiently create, organize, and manage all required project documentation. With the Submittal Log Builder, you can quickly generate titles from Specifications, bulk-edit details, and create drafts. You can also manually create Submittals, upload documents, assign reviewers, and set schedules. Project Settings allows you to configure default workflows and reviewer assignments for a smoother approval process.
The Submittal Process
Creation: Project managers solicit details from subcontractors regarding specific items for installation or fabrication.
Review: The project and design teams ensure alignment with project specifications and drawings.
Approval: Submittals are returned to subcontractors once approved, documenting readiness for construction.
Process
Submittal Log Builder
Use the Submittal Log Builder to quickly upload and generate Submittal Titles from your project Specifications.
Upload a Specification
Navigate to Submittals.
Click the three-dot menu in the upper right corner.
Select Open Log Builder.
Select the Specification you want to use, then click Next.
Select Tiles
You can select multiple tiles, then click Confirm.
Choose All to include every tile.
Choose Selected to include only the items you checked.
Bulk Edit
Select the tiles you want to update and click Bulk Edit.
Enter the details for the selected tiles, then click Save.
Create Drafts
Creating a Submittal
Create a Title, then select a Package and Type.
Add your References (Specification/Drawing).
Upload your Documentation.
Assign your team members:
Responsible Contractor
Submittal Manager
Additional Design Reviewers (you can assign multiple as needed)
Official Design Reviewer
Set up your Schedule.
Once complete, you can now assign your Submittal.
Project Settings
Configuring Default Submittal Workflow
Navigate to Project Settings β Submittals.
Under the General tab, you can configure:
Default Official Design Reviewer
Default Submittal Manager
Under the Submittal Project Settings, you can also edit the following:
Default Submittal Types
Default Scheduling
Additional Design Workflow
If you have created approval workflows for specific trades, you can configure them here.
During Submittal creation, you can select Apply Template to use an existing workflow.
How to Access and View Your Submittals
On the Submittal homepage, use the toggle to filter submittals:
How to Access the Submittal Timeline
On the Submittal Details page, click the Timeline icon located above.
This will display the real-time status and the submittal trail, showing interactions between responsible parties.
