Overview
The Drawings module in INGENIOUS.BUILD allows for efficient drawing uploads, organization, version tracking, and sharing. Collaborators can upload new drawings, revisions, or draft sets. While there is no formal approval workflow for drawings (like RFIs or Submittals), you can still share files with clients or internal project members through the Documents module or by attaching them to other items.
Step 1: Uploading Drawings
Navigate to the Drawings module from the left-hand project menu.
Click + Add New Drawing to open the slide-out panel.
Select one of the following:
Enter a Set Name (e.g., “Testing Demo”), select a category (if applicable), and upload your drawing file.
Tip: Upload a multi-page PDF whenever possible (merge separate files beforehand).
Click Upload.
Step 2: Configuring Drawings (OCR Setup)
After uploading, click Configure.
Use the Select Region tool to highlight:
Confirm your selections.
Review the auto-extracted details and adjust if needed.
Categories may auto-populate based on standard codes (e.g., A1 = Architecture, G = General, M = Mechanical). If not, manually assign the correct one.
Click Save and Process Set to complete configuration.
Step 3: Reviewing and Managing Drawings
Sheets – List of uploaded drawings.
Versions – Formerly called “Revisions,” stores historical versions.
Annotations – Manage markups and notes.
Details – Edit set status, name, address, issue date, and category.
Timeline – Tracks actions and revisions.
Editing Permissions: Only users from the workspace that uploaded the set can add revisions or make edits.
Sharing Drawings
Since the Drawings module does not include a formal submission workflow, you’ll need to download any sheets you want to share, then re-upload them into the Documents module before sending them to other users.
Option 1 – Share via the Documents Module
From the Drawings module, download the sheet(s) you want to share.
Go to the Documents module.
Click Add New Folder and name the folder appropriately. Then, click Confirm.
Open the folder you just created and click Upload.
Wait for the upload to finish — you’ll get a prompt once it’s done.
Click the Action button beside the file.
Select Share.
Enter the email address of the person you want to share it with.
Click Save. That’s it — the file is now shared.
Option 2 – Attach Files to RFIs or Submittals
When creating an RFI or Submittal, upload the downloaded drawing file directly in the creation screen. These files will be visible to internal users; external sharing still depends on permissions.
Option 3 – Sharing Draft Sets
Only the creator can view a Draft Set until it is marked as Current. To allow early access, click Share in the Draft Set to give selected users view rights.
