Overview

Daily Logs (previously called Daily Reports) is the daily site activity tracking tool in Ingenious. It lets teams record site activity, safety incidents, delays, weather, visitors, waste, equipment, and work performed — all in one daily entry. Daily Logs can also be created and edited offline on the mobile app and sync once a connection is restored.

Access and Visibility

  • Daily Logs are workspace-specific.

  • Only users within the same workspace as the company that created the log can view it.

  • Daily Logs are not shared across workspaces.

What Daily Logs Capture

Daily Logs are created within a project to capture daily site activity, such as:

  • Weather and site conditions

  • Work performed by companies (Work Log)

  • Safety incidents and safety violations

  • Delays and site operations (visitors, equipment, waste, etc.)

  • Notes, photos, and supporting documents

The goal of Daily Logs is to provide a daily record of on-site activity, issues, and conditions to help teams monitor progress and support project closeout.

Process

1. Configure Daily Logs

Before creating Daily Logs on a project, configure the available categories and delay types.

a. Navigate to Project Settings → Daily Log.

b. Under Delay Types, add the delay options that should appear in the dropdown when recording delays on a log.

c. Under Log Categories, toggle each category on or off based on your project needs. For example, an Owner may disable Safety sections if they are not required. Only enabled categories will appear when creating a Daily Log.

d. Save your changes.

2. Create a Daily Log

a. Navigate to Daily Logs → Create Daily Log.

b. Fill out the categories that were enabled in Project Settings. Each category lets you enter data and attach files directly inside the section.

c. Choose how to finalize:

  • Save as Draft — keeps the log editable and saves your progress.

  • Submit — submits the Daily Log.

Note: Daily Logs do not have a formal approval workflow or role restriction at submission. Anyone with project access can submit, approve, or reopen a log.

3. View a Daily Log

Open a Daily Log from the Daily Logs list. The view shows:

Header summary

  • Daily Log Status (Draft, Submitted, or Approved)

  • Responsible Contractor

  • Reported by

  • Total hours

  • Person-count

  • Total Delay Hours

  • Incidents

  • Safety Violations

Side panel with each enabled category (Notes, Work Log, Delays, Weather, Visitors, Equipment, Waste, Safety Incidents, Safety Violations). Click a category to jump to its section.

Section details

  • All completed sections with their entered data

  • Attached files

  • Company-based Work Log entries with expandable details for hours, people, notes, and files

4. Reopen and edit a submitted Daily Log

If you need to revise a log after submitting it:

a. Open the submitted Daily Log.

b. Click Re-open in the top right. The status reverts to Submitted → Draft.

c. Make your changes.

d. Submit again.

5. Mark a Daily Log as Approved

To mark a Daily Log as approved:

a. Open the submitted Daily Log.

b. Click Approve in the top right. The status updates to Approved.

To reopen an approved log if it needs further updates, click Re-open.

The system records an audit trail for each log, including:

  • Who submitted it

  • Who approved it

  • Who reopened it

6. Export a Daily Log

To export a Daily Log, open the log and click the export icon in the top right.
