Creating and Submitting a Specification as a Collaborator

This guide walks you through the step-by-step process to upload, organize, and interact with your specifications seamlessly.

Overview

The Specifications module in INGENIOUS.BUILD helps you maintain clear, organized project documentation by providing a centralized space to upload, structure, and collaborate on specifications with ease throughout the project lifecycle.


1. Access Your Project

Start from your Dashboard and navigate to the Projects list.
Select the project where you'd like to manage specifications.


2. Open the Specifications Module

Hover over the project’s navigation dropdown menu.


From the list, click Specifications to open the module.


3. Add a New Specification

Click Add New Specification to begin.


Upload your specification file and give your set a clear name.


Press Enter, then provide the Issue Date.


4. Review, Organize and Navigate

Once uploaded, review the field numbers and section, then click Save.


The system automatically categorizes them by Division and Specification Section for easy navigation.


5. Publish the Set

Click Publish Set to make the specifications available to your project team.


This ensures everyone is working from the same version.


6. Use Search for Quick Access

Use the Search function to quickly locate specific details or sections within the specifications, saving time and improving accuracy.


7. Highlight and Link to Other Modules

Highlight any section of text to create:

  • RFIs

  • Submittals

  • Comments

This cross-linking functionality allows you to manage tasks without switching between modules, improving your team’s workflow efficiency.
