Overview

Feasibility Studies in INGENIOUS.BUILD empowers teams to explore multiple budget scenarios within a single project. This feature ensures informed decision-making and flexibility during the early planning stages by enabling side-by-side comparisons and seamless adjustments.

Process

Starting a Feasibility Study

  1. Navigate to the Budget Module

    • In a new project without an approved budget, go to the dropdown navigation menu and select Master Project Budget / ACR.

    • Choose the Start Feasibility Study option when prompted.

Tip: If you already have an unapproved budget loaded, click Actions > Start Feasibility Study.

  2. Set Up Your First Budget Option

    • Provide an ID and a name for the budget option.

    • Optionally, add a description, address, or upload supporting files.

    • Click Create New Budget Option.

    • Select a template for cost codes:

      • Choose a comprehensive template if your budget options may include different cost codes.

      • You can add cost codes later by clicking the + button.

  3. Build Out Your Budget Option

    • Click on individual line items within the budget to define values and details.

    • Click Create New Budget Option in the top-right corner to add more budget options.

Tip: Click the three dots next to a Budget Option title to edit details, hide, duplicate, add cost codes, delete, or set the budget as the master budget.

Setting the Master Budget

  1. Choose the Final Budget Option

    • Once your feasibility study is complete, select the preferred option by clicking the three dots on its card and choosing Set as Master Budget.

  2. Confirm Your Selection

    • A pop-up modal will prompt you to confirm your choice.

Quick Tip: You can continue adding or modifying budget options and even change the master budget as long as it remains unapproved. Changes made in the master budget won’t reflect on the feasibility planning tab and vice versa.

Troubleshooting

  • If the option to start a feasibility study isn’t available, go to Project Settings > Budget / ACR and ensure the Feasibility Study toggle is turned on. This option is enabled by default.

Using Feasibility Studies in INGENIOUS.BUILD, you can compare multiple budget options confidently and with flexibility choose the best fit for your project.
