How to create a new project in your workspace

Prerequisites

Depending on the settings in your workspace, a user with a Project Manager account type may not have the permission level to create a project. If you cannot add a new project, contact your workspace Administrator.

Process

On the main Dashboard, click New Project in the top right corner. Complete the required fields on each step.


Project Details

Generated Project ID: This is auto-generated and cannot be changed or edited.

Project Name: Enter the name of the project. Please note that this cannot be edited later and can only be changed by contacting the INGENIOUS Support team.

Unique Project ID (optional): Enter your company-specific Project ID. This can be edited later in Project Settings.

Base Currency: This will default to your workspace's base currency. You can change it using the dropdown.

Project Scope (optional): Add a summary of your project's key details.

Exclusions from Project Scope (optional): Summarize any exclusions from your project scope.

Click Next Step.

Project Members

Click Select Client to specify the client for this project (not applicable in the Owner workspace type). Choose Invite if your client will be collaborating with you using INGENIOUS. Choose Bookmark if your client is off-system. You can always invite a Bookmarked client later.

Add the Lead Project Executive and Lead Project Manager. These are other employees in your company in your INGENIOUS workspace.

"Assign Lead Project Manager as Default Approver" will be checked by default. This will automatically put this individual on the approval workflow for all financial items.

Add other Internal Team Members. Users need to be added as Internal Team Members to have access to this project. The internal team can be changed later.


​Project Information

All Project Information items can be changed later in Project Settings.

Choose a Sector / Industry. These are not currently customizable. If you do not see the option you are looking for, choose Other and use the Project Type dropdown below.

Unit of Measure will default to your workspace default. Add an Area. Area can be used to see cost/sqft.

The Project Type dropdown is customizable. Choose from the dropdown or click Add New.

Add Primary and Secondary Tags to your workspace to further classify your project. You can search for the Tags from your project listing [confirm]

Project Site Address (optional)

Add your project site address.

Address 1 will be saved as a Building in the Buildings / Sites area of your workspace.

Address 2, if used, will be saved as a Subsite in the Building.

Buildings / Sites is only available in Owner and Owner's Rep workspace types.

Click Start Project.

Congratulations! You are ready to start managing your project in INGENIOUS!
