Creating and Managing Risks

Learn how to create, manage, and track project risks in the Risks module. This guide covers adding risk details, assigning owners, setting dates, filtering risk lists, viewing archived risks, and exporting risk data for reporting.

Overview

This article explains how to create, manage, and track risks within a project. Properly documenting risks helps teams identify potential issues early, assign ownership, monitor progress, and implement mitigation strategies to reduce their impact on the project.


Process

Creating Risks

  1. Open your project.

  2. In the left-hand navigation bar, locate and click Risks.

  3. Click + Create Risk.

  4. From the slide-out window, fill out the following information:

    • Name

    • Description

    • Status

    • Risk to

    • Severity: Select the level of impact this risk could have on the project if it occurs.

    • Probability: Select the likelihood of the risk occurring.

    • Expected Cost: Enter the estimated financial impact if the risk occurs.

    • Expected Delay: Enter the estimated project delay if the risk occurs.

    • Who can access this risk: Choose who can view and access this risk.

    • Members: Select the users who should have access to or be associated with this risk.

    • Mitigation Strategy: Describe the planned actions to reduce the likelihood or impact of the risk.

    • Ball in Court: Select the person or company currently responsible for addressing or managing the risk.

    • Responsible Company: Select the company accountable for the risk.

    • Start Date - Due Date

    • Tags: Add tags to help organize and quickly locate risks.

    • Jobsite Locations: Associate the risk with one or more jobsite locations.

    • Files: Upload supporting documents or attachments related to the risk.

  5. Click Save.

Note: The Name field is required to create a risk. All other fields are optional but are recommended to provide additional context and improve risk tracking.


Managing Risks

  1. Use the tabs to filter and view risks based on different criteria.

    • All: View all risks within the project.

    • Assigned to You: View all risks assigned to you.

    • Due This Week: View all risks that are due this week.

  2. Show Archived toggle: Enable this toggle to view archived risks.

  3. Export icon: Click to export the list of risks.

  4. Advanced Filters: Filter by other fields using the funnel icon.


By following these steps, you can effectively document, monitor, and manage project risks throughout their lifecycle. Keeping risks up to date helps improve visibility, accountability, and proactive decision-making across your project.
