Overview
The % of Dependency unit of measure automates budget calculations by linking a specific budget line item as a percentage of another component. When the base budget changes, the dependent line item's value automatically recalculates, reducing manual work.
Process
1. Enable the % of Dependency unit
When adding a budget line item, select % of Dependency as the Unit of Measure.
2. Link to a budget component
Choose whether the item should be a percentage of:
A specific budget line item
A category
A phase
The entire budget
3. Automatic recalculation
If the base component's value changes, the linked line item recalculates automatically.
For example, if a cost code is set to 10% of a $100K budget, it calculates to $10K, bringing the total to $110K.
4. Managing budget changes and locking values
Users receive notifications when budget changes impact dependent line items.
After final approval, dependencies can be unlinked and values locked to prevent further automatic updates.
